Tim Kirk is a Senior Project Manager on the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. Program, which stands for Restoring Independence, Supporting Empowerment. Part of the program’s mission is to provide customized smart homes that will accommodate injured veterans creating a means to empower them with independence in a home they can call their own.
The Tim Kirk Team joined Tim at the Walls of Honor event to show our support for the family, for the generous organizations, and for Tim and the team working hard on this donation project. The event was in honor of the Bottrell family; Andrew Bottrell is a triple amputee who suffered injuries while serving our nation in Afghanistan. We arrived in the San Diego neighborhood of Clairemont, the location of the Bottrell’s soon to be home, which is a highly sought-after, family-friendly neighborhood, in close proximity to shops and restaurants, and an easy commute to other areas of town. As I approached the home, I could instantly feel the love, hard work and support that many had contributed to the sturdy structure standing before me.
Tim, his team, and many businesses have been donating their hard work and supplies to this project for months, from the purchase of the pre-existing home through demolition, to permits and building. The home is now about half-way through construction and there is still lots of work to be done but the finishing touches and the convenience the smart technology in the home will create for our warrior, Andrew and his family will make the long, hard work well worth it.
After reading Andrew’s bio and listening to a short presentation about why these generous businesses are proud to be donating to the project, each attendee was given a Sharpee to write a message of gratitude and well wishes for the family on the walls of their new home. As real estate professionals, the Tim Kirk Team’s goal is to build a bond, provide support, and develop a friendship with our clients that will continue long after the home buying/selling process is over. This is exactly what the messages on the walls for the Bottrell family are for, to create a sense of belonging, support, and community within the walls of the new home. The messages are intended to leave the message that even though you can no longer read the messages and the home is complete, we are still here for you.
A home is so much more than a house it is a space of security, comfort, and inspiration where goals will be achieved, memories will be created and family is forever. The Tim Kirk Team wants to thank Andrew Bottrell for his dedication to our country and for fighting for our freedom. We can’t wait to see the completed smart technology, custom home that is being built in your honor. We wish the Bottrell family a long prosperous life and hope that their soon to be home is exactly what they are dreaming of!
